The SAVa project

SAVa (Studies of Atherosclerosis in Vastmanland) is an umbrella project for two research studies that started enrolling patients in 2005 at the Center for Clinical Research (CKF) Uppsala University, Västmanland Hospital Västerås. One study included patients with acute myocardial infarction (VaMIS) and the other, patients with peripheral arterial disease (PADVa). Common to both studies, control subjects from the general population were also included.

In total, 2315 participants have undergone an extensive examination in this project.

The overall aim of the SAVa project is to increase the knowledge of different aspects of atherosclerotic diseases.
